Xiaomi recently launched the new Redmi Note 6 Pro and it is exclusively available on the Flipkart once every week. Redmi Note Pro series is one of the top-selling mobile devices in the mobile industry. Back in this year 2018, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 5 Pro which is still popular and obtain the position of the No.1 mobile selling brand in India and after 11 months of success, they have launched the Redmi Note 6 Pro.
So, the question is what Xiaomi has changed so far in the new Redmi Note 6 pro, let’s find out now.
Pricing
Redmi Note 5 Pro 4GB + 64GB ROM pricing is Rs → 13,999
Redmi Note 5 Pro 6GB + 64GB ROM pricing is Rs → 15,999
Redmi Note 6 Pro 4GB + 64GB ROM pricing is Rs → 13,999
Redmi Note 6 Pro 6GB + 64GB ROM pricing is Rs → 15,999
Now you are thinking, the price is totally same, so what we have to choose here, maybe you will go with the new one, right, but wait, let me tell you some differences about both the devices.
Display
The display of the Redmi note 5 pro is 18:9 FHD+ with the display size of 5.99 inches at the resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels which gives the full white display which gives sharp and beautiful clarity. You can read it on sunlight without interrupted with the reflection and also have 2.5D curved glass which gives premium look.
while with the Redmi Note 6 pro has 19:9 FHD+ notched display and the size is 6.26 inches at the resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels with the corning gorilla glass. The display is sharp and provides good angles and colors. Adding notch like an iPhone means you won’t see much notification icons due to the space of the notch which is absolutely not great at all.
Battery
With Redmi note 5 pro, the charging time takes 2+ hours to complete the full charging, there is no much difference here but the tweak part is here, redmi note 6 pro has Quick Charge 3.0, that means it charges half of the battery 50% in 30-40 minutes unlike note 5 pro takes 2+ hours. Both the devices in the moderate usage could give 2 days battery backup, while gaming it gives you 5-7 hours of screen on time(SOT) and watching movies and music gives 10+ sot, so here Redmi note 6 pro is the winner because of Quick Charge 3.0 while redmi note 5 pro use Quick Charge 2.0. The company does not provide the Quick charge 3.0 adapter, you have to buy it separately.
Performance
In note 5 pro, the processor is having a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipsets at 1.8Ghz while the same in note 6 pro which gives the gaming experience more smooth without any lags, the same processor is in this price range is available on Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 and all these devices are the best gaming devices in this budget, there is no problem with the multitasking, you can run many apps but if you opened too many apps then the memory should be concern. So for the performance, both the devices are brilliant.
Camera
In Redmi note 5 Pro and 6 Pro, the camera is superb whether it is a selfie or Rear camera. Both the devices come with the dual camera, in note 5 pro, it has 12MP f/2.2, 1.25 microns Pixel whereas in note 6 pro, it has 12MP f/1.9, 1.4 microns pixels which are better than note 5 pro. The difference here you would get more clarity image in note 6 pro in low light mode which would be able to capture more lights.
The front camera has a 20MP + 2MP depth sensor with the aperture of f/2.0 which gives crisp and clear images with AI portrait LED dual camera selfie in redmi note 6 pro, the changes here are smart AI which detects automatically up to 27 scenes detection, adding a six different kinds of lens effects makes the image background more dynamic. Overall, here Redmi Note 6 pro beats note 5 Pro in terms of camera.
Additional Features
- Both have a Face Unlock and Fingerprint Sensor and it is very fast
- Both the devices now have an Android 8.1+ Oreo but not out of the box.
- Both come with the IR blaster
- Both have the call recording feature
- Both can be used to lock apps through the fingerprint scanner
- Both have the slow-motion recording in 720p @120fps
- Both the devices have the feature to use native calling without any 3rd party apps.
- Bot the devices now running in MIUI 10 but not out of the box.
What are the pros and cons?
If I say about Redmi Note 6 Pro then they haven’t changed the processor, design, no Android Pie as for now, the battery is same but the price also remains same because of other competitors like Realme U1, Asus and Honor is going to bash the party.
Verdict
If you are not the user of Redmi Note 5 Pro then I recommend you to go for the Redmi Note 6 Pro instead. The price is under the budget of just Rs13,999 with NO Cost EMI. If you are already a user then I don’t recommend because only the camera and fast charging having the advantage, rest is the same even the processor which we thought we get the Snapdragon 660 but it is still old-fashioned Snapdragon 636.
If you want to compete for these devices to some other device then I would go for the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2, Realme 2 Pro, Realme U1 and Honor 8X which are good options in this price segment.
